PRESS RELEASE: LES VINS GEORGES DUBOEUF
BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU 2006 ARRIVAL FESTIVITIES BENEFIT HUNGER CHARITIES IN SIX CITIES
Les Vins Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau 2006
Arrival Festivities Benefit Hunger Charities in Six Cities
The first wine of the harvest, Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau, is always a welcome guest at the Thanksgiving table. Georges Duboeuf and his U.S. importer W.J. Deutsch & Sons, Ltd. believe that every family deserves to sit down to a full meal and knows that the need is keenly felt during the holidays.
Events to benefit local banks are being held in six cities: New York (City Harvest), San Francisco (San Francisco Food Bank), Los Angeles (Los Angeles Regional Food Bank), Denver (Food Bank of the Rockies), Chicago (Greater Chicago Food Depository) and Houston (Houston Food Bank). All the charities will receive donations from Les Vins Georges Duboeuf and W.J. Deutsch & Sons, Ltd. The events will also help raise awareness for hunger in America—which affects children, families and the elderly with devastating results.
In Chicago, Houston and Denver teams of restaurateurs and wine retailers will compete in relay races, handing off frozen turkeys instead of a baton. In New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles a special reception will be held to present a check donation, and to taste the first wine of the harvest on its release date, November 16.
Flavorful, versatile and affordable, Beaujolais Nouveau has become a favorite choice for the Thanksgiving meal. The traditional menu features a myriad of flavors that can overwhelm most white wines, while big, muscular, tannic reds completely overshadow the food and fight with some of the sweeter notes found in holiday fare. Beaujolais Nouveau has a cornucopia of red fruit flavors that complement but don’t compete with this food-centric holiday. Thanksgiving is a harvest festival and no wine is more appropriate than the first gift of the grape.
